{"id":133,"date":"2016-04-06T04:55:08","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T04:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/?page_id=133"},"modified":"2016-04-21T06:03:03","modified_gmt":"2016-04-21T06:03:03","slug":"one-timers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/?page_id=133","title":{"rendered":"One-Timers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One timers are perhaps the most effective and dangerous way to score in \u201894. \u00a0The shots come fast, and seem to be more accurate than slapshots, usually finding the open net. \u00a0It&#8217;s basic, and powerful.<\/p>\n<p>The mechanics of a one-timer are simple. \u00a0Press B to pass to another player and then press C before the puck arrives to make your player shoot the puck. \u00a0As long as the puck is near his stick, \u00a0the one-timer will execute. \u00a0You don&#8217;t need to aim the puck, \u00a0and pressing a directional pad won&#8217;t affect the placement of the shot. \u00a0Forehand or backhand also doesn&#8217;t matter as the one-timer shot defies physics and will zip off the stick regardless of it&#8217;s placement.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some common applications of the one-timer.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Winger to Center<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>One-timer 101! \u00a0The most common and effective way to score a goal is to set up a one-timer from either winger to your center. \u00a0A common play is to skate straight down with your winger behind the goalie, \u00a0and then feed your center for the one-timer. \u00a0This is not a difficult play to execute, and the only thing you need to watch for is an open passing lane (and angry defenseman trying to lay you out!). If you see the opening, pass the puck! \u00a0A successful one timer here will lead to many goals.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-193\" src=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c1-300x264.png\" alt=\"onetimer_w2c1\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c1-300x264.png 300w, https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c1.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-192\" src=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c2-300x264.png\" alt=\"onetimer_w2c2\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c2-300x264.png 300w, https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_w2c2.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<h5><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Quick Timers<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Since one-timers tend to have higher accuracy and power, \u00a0learning to get them off from close range is a great skill. \u00a0The shooting player does not need any time or distance to execute a one-timer, the only caveat is how quickly you can press B &amp; C in succession. \u00a0Being able to get off a rocket shot in close space is a huge advantage, \u00a0allowing you to sneak in a goal you may not have gotten with a slapper or wrister.\u00a0 Examples are shown in the video below.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Give &#8216;N Go<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>This nifty play works well against both computer and human controlled goalies as it will get the goalie out of position. \u00a0The play starts by taking a player (can be anyone) in front of the net with the puck, \u00a0passing it once to another player and then right back to the original person for the one-timer.\u00a0 The idea is to get your shooter in place, and do a quick back and forth to release the one-timer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_gng1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-196\" src=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_gng1-300x265.png\" alt=\"onetimer_gng1\" width=\"300\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_gng1-300x265.png 300w, https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_gng1.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Offensive Zone Faceoffs<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>When you have have a faceoff in the offensive zone, this is one play that you should strongly consider trying as it is difficult to defend and you have a great chance at a goal.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really just a set-play quick timer, as explained above.<\/p>\n<p>The first play is to win the faceoff to your defenseman on the side of the faceoff circle (LD on left faceoff, RD on right), <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">immediately<\/span> pass to the winger lined up closer to the goalie (your LW if the faceoff is on the right circle, RW if on the left), and let a one timer rip. \u00a0This is a great play that I try the majority of the time on offensive zone faceoffs.\u00a0 You can even go so far as to edit your lines before the faceoff to place a sniper at the wing (assuming you don&#8217;t have one there already), to maximize your scoring opportunity. \u00a0The downside is if it doesn&#8217;t work, \u00a0you&#8217;re stuck playing with a different lineup until the next whistle.\u00a0 I&#8217;d only recommend changing the lineup if it&#8217;s late in the period, OR if the switch doesn&#8217;t impact your lineup much. \u00a0If successful, \u00a0the entire play takes 3 seconds off the clock.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-168\" src=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff-300x264.png\" alt=\"onetimer_faceoff\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff-300x264.png 300w, https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another play is to go directly from center to winger. \u00a0This more difficult to predict because it&#8217;s hard to win a faceoff to your own center, and the distance from center to winger is even shorter than defensemen to winger.\u00a0 However, the same principle applies, get it to your winger immediately for the one-timer before your opponent can get set.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-170\" src=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff2-300x263.png\" alt=\"onetimer_faceoff2\" width=\"300\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff2-300x263.png 300w, https:\/\/nhl94strategy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/onetimer_faceoff2.png 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is a video that shows you the different one-timer applications that were described on this page.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JCECIsYP6ns\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One timers are perhaps the most effective and dangerous way to score in \u201894. \u00a0The shots come fast, and seem to be more accurate than slapshots, usually finding the open net. \u00a0It&#8217;s basic, and powerful.
